This Saturday and Sunday at Scarborough Renaissance Festival, it’s all about Mom mixed in with some Renaissance Romance.

This Mother’s Day, treat Mom to a full day of family fun, entertainment and outstanding shopping at Scarborough Renaissance Festival, and of course great food, by starting the day off with Scarborough’s Mother’s Day Brunch. This scrumptious Brunch Buffet will include baked egg Frittata, roasted potatoes with rosemary, mixed fruit and carved ham along with Mimosas (for those over 21), coffee and tea.

There will also be lively Renaissance entertainment and King Henry VIII and members of the Royal Court will make a special visit to honor all the mothers.

The Mother’s Day Brunch will take place 11 a.m. – noon at the Crown Pavilion each day. This is a separate ticketed event (in addition to Festival admission) - $20 for adults (ages 13+), $10 for children 5-12 and children 4 and younger are free. Vow renewal ceremony

The Renaissance was a time of great romance and chivalry and this weekend Scarborough Renaissance Festival celebrates modern day romances with our own Renaissance flair at the Vow Renewal Ceremony. Scarborough invites couples to join us in the picturesque Wedding Garden at noon each day to renew their vows and commitments to each other in this lovely, romantic ceremony (free with Festival admission).

Plus, this year we are proud to present the all NEW “Vow Renewal Reception” to celebrate these unions! The Vow Renewal Reception will take place from 12:30 p.m. to 1 p.m. in the Crown Pavilion immediately following the ceremonies on both days and will include a Mead toast in souvenir Scarborough champagne flutes and cake. The reception is a separate ticketed event (in addition to Festival admission) – tickets are $35 per couple and can be purchased in advance at www.SRFestival.com or at the Festival the day of the event.

There is interactive fun for everyone at Scarborough Renaissance Festival as you step back in time to the 16th century days of King Henry VIII. There’s 23 stages of extraordinary non-stop entertainment, full combat jousting, Birds of Prey exhibitions, the Grande Parade, Renaissance rides, games of skills, plus mermaids, knighting ceremonies, a human chess match, over 150 costumed performers and so much more!

Guest entertainers this weekend include “The German Brothers,” “Dublin Doubles” and “Tobias the Adequate.”

 

World record attempt

And on Saturday at 10:30 a.m., Adam Winrich (aka Adam Crack), 19 time world record holder, will attempt to break the Guinness Book of World Records record for the ‘Most Bullwhip Cracks in One Minute’ at Scarborough Renaissance Festival and hopes to put it well out of reach of his competitors in the field.

The current record was set by Adam with 257 bullwhip cracks in one minute and his show on Crown Stage, he will attempt to set a new record.

Scarborough Renaissance Festival is also one of the largest outdoor juried craft shows in the country offering an incredible shopping experience with exquisite hand-made crafts in over 200 shops.

Plus, artisans demonstrate a variety of age-old crafts throughout each day of the Festival. Visitors are invited to discover new shops such as “Lady of the Lake Silks,” “The Knarly Knot,” “Sea Glass Gypsy,” “Book Faire” and “Namesake Henna” along with guest Artisans “Masquerade Life Castings” and “Queen Bee Honey.”

The daily Wine Tastings will feature wines of Italy and the daily Beer Tastings will showcase the beers of Texas.

The tastings sell out fast, so it is recommend that you purchase tasting tickets in advance.

Scarborough Renaissance Festival 2016 runs every Saturday and Sunday (and Memorial Day Monday) now through May 30.
