Rosemary Wynne Alderdice, 88, passed away on April 13, 2016 in Ennis, Texas. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at First Christian Church in Waxahachie with Pastor Marcia Hagee officiating. A graveside service will be held at Smith Cemetery at a later date.
Rosemary was born on Aug. 30, 1927 to T.R. and Birdie Wynne. She grew up on the family farm in Palmer. She attended Palmer High School until she transferred to Waxahachie High School so she could get her foreign language to attend college. Rosemary graduated from WHS in 1944 and went on to continue her education at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. While attending TCU she was President of the student body. She graduated in May 1948 with a degree in Art Education. On Nov. 6, 1948 she married her high school sweetheart, J.M. Alderdice III (Jimmie). Rosemary became a devoted wife and community volunteer. She was a Sunday school teacher, Vacation Bible School director at First Christian Church, Girl Scout leader, Boy Scout leader as well as regularly read at Sims Library for Children’s Story Hour. Rosemary was active in many clubs including Jr. Service League, Shakespeare Club, Gardener’s Limited, Friday Book Club, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Friday Book Club and Monday Mah Jong. She also served on the Board of First Christian Church, Waxahachie City Cemetery and Smith Cemetery. Rosemary was also a former First Lady of Waxahachie.
She is survived by her daughter, Amy Alderdice Wright and her husband, Chris, of Waxahachie; grandchildren, Andrea Clark of Waxahachie, Rosemary Clark and Kevin Clark, of Waxahachie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Alderdice and son, Rick Alderdice.
