The inaugural concert for the newly formed Waxahachie Area Concert Band will take place beginning at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Hagee Communication Center Performing Arts Hall, located on the Southwestern Assemblies of God University campus.

The concert will combine the community band with the SAGU Wind Ensemble and feature the music of Holst, Sousa, Wagner, Grainger, Whitacre and other great classical composors.

There is no admission to the concert, however seating is limited and will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

The Waxahachie Area Concert Band features more than 20 professional musicians from the greater Ellis County area, many of whom perform in other North Texas symphonies.

Ealier this year, the group began practicing with the SAGU Wind Ensemble led by Dr. Tyrone Black, who will be conducting Monday’s concert.

Approximately 20 SAGU students — along with two Ellis County high school students — will be performing in the combined band.
