DALLAS, Texas – Weather permitting, an emergency bridge repair project will begin tonight at the Louisiana Avenue bridge over I-35E. The bridge was closed on Feb. 11 after it was hit and sustained damage.
During the construction work to repair the bridge it will be necessary to close I-35E northbound down to one outside lane at the U.S. 67/I-35E split to north of Louisiana Avenue. One right lane on U.S. 67 as well as the entrance/exit ramps on I-35E at Illinois Avenue and Saner Avenue will also be closed between the hours of 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly Monday through Thursday and 9 p.m. to 8 a.m. Friday and Saturday nights through mid-April.
Through traffic on I-35E is encouraged to take I-20 eastbound to I-45 northbound to I-30 westbound back to I-35E northbound.
Portable changeable message signs have been posted to inform the public of the closures and local police will assist with the lane closures.
Backups are expected and motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes.
