MIDLOTHIAN – Five people were transported to several area hospitals after a two-vehicle accident Thursday.
Emergency crews were dispatched at about 10:30 a.m. to the intersection of Gifco Road and U.S. Highway 67. The accident was on the west side of 67 at Gifco Road, involving a small sedan and a truck, said Phillip Brancato, Midlothian Assistant Fire Chief.
“We did have to extricate two patients out of the sedan,” Brancato said. “They were pinned inside the vehicle.”
When firefighters arrived on scene, they found the car off the roadway and in a field and the pickup truck on the shoulder.
Brancato said because of the close proximity of Cedar Hill, the Cedar Hill Fire Department provided assistance on the call with two ambulances and a battalion chief command vehicle. Between Midlothian and Cedar Hill ambulances, two patients were transported to Methodist Dallas Medical Center, two other patients were taken to Children’s Medical Center of Dallas and the last patient was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital.
The cause of the accident is under investigation by the Midlothian Police Department. Firefighters remained on scene for about an hour before returning to the station.
