Ronnie Collins Hawthorne passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Monday morning, March 7, 2016. He was born on his mother’s birthday, Sept. 12, 1948 in Albany, Georgia. Ronnie resided in Albany with his parents, Emory Bryant Hawthorne and Lula Mae (Collins) Hawthorne and big brother William Bryant Hawthorne until the age of 12, at which time he moved with his parents to Waco, Texas and graduated from Richfield High School in 1968. Ronnie served 6 years with the Texas Air National Guard and followed with 36 years as a police officer, splitting his service between Dallas Police Department and as a federal officer for the Veterans Administration until he retired in 2006.
Ronnie and his wife of 39 years, Sharon Hawthorne, resided in Red Oak for 30 years, but recently moved to Midlothian to build their dream home in the Midtowne neighborhood. Ronnie loved his family more than anything and is survived by Sharon, daughter Cara Copley, husband Billy and grandsons Johnathon and Cole all, of Murphy, Texas; son Clint Hawthorne, wife Amanda, and grandchildren Caden and Addison, all from Midlothian, Texas; and brother Bill Hawthorne and wife, Brenda, of Estero, Florida; and nephews Shane and Chris, of Springfield, Missouri.
The family will be receiving visitors from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Midlothian Funeral Home, 200 E Avenue E, Midlothian, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at the funeral home.
