The Red Oak Fire Department responded to a residential fire at 12:10 p.m. Tuesday in the 100 block of Saddlehorn Lane in Waxahachie.

Upon arriving at the scene, firefighters discovered flames in the attic.

“When we got inside, we could see that the roof in the back of the home had been hit by lightning, and firefighters encountered flames in the attick,” said Thompson. “We were able to knock the flames down pretty quickly, but there was moderate damage to a 6-foot by 5-foot area directly above the living room. The fire caused the ceiling fan to fall. Fortunately, no one was injured and the resident was already out of the home.”

Waxahachie and Glen Heights firefighters also responded to provide mutual aid on the call.
