WHS Band fundraiser set for Feb. 6 at the Waxahachie Civic Center
Now in its 11th Year, the Jazz Café, featuring the award winning Waxahachie High School Jazz Orchestra will be in full swing on Feb. 6. The event is dedicated to benefiting sixth - 12th grade band students.
The Jazz Café will take place from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. at the Waxahachie Civic Center.
The Jazz Orchestra consists of 22 very talented High School students, directed by Rich Armstrong, who will be playing Big Band music. Some of the musical selections will include “In The Mood,” “Moonglow,” “Woodchoppers Ball,” “Moonlight Serenade” and “Sing, Sing, Sing.”
The special guest artists are Waxahachie alumni brothers James Davis and Keith Davis. James plays trumpet and was formerly with the Glenn Miller Big Band. Keith plays saxophone. They have been a part of the Jazz Cafe for several years and they never disappoint. Ryan Mullican will be joining in to sing a few song selections as well.
Linda Rodriguez with My Sister’s Affair Catering will be providing dinner again this year at Jazz Cafe. We will be serving beef tenderloin, grilled chicken breast with spinach ragu, vegetable, trio of roasted potatoes, salad, bread and dessert. Tea and coffee will be provided as well.
After dinner, the dance floor is available for anyone who wants to get up and take a spin around it.
The event will also feature a silent auction with donations from local businesses as well as from places like Perot Museum, Lone Star Park in Grand Prairie, Fort Worth Stockyards, Byron Nelson Golf Championship, Disneyland, Mesquite Championship Rodeo, Texas Rangers, Billy Bob’s Texas, Texas Rangers, and many more. We will also be raffling a laptop that evening. Tickets for the laptop drawing are $5 each or 5 tickets for $20.
The Jazz Cafe would be a wonderful early Valentine’s date. Bring your loved one and enjoy a romantic evening of dinner, dancing, and a silent auction.
Tickets are $40. For more information or to purchase tickets online, visit www.spiritofwaxahachie.com/jazzcafe. Tickets are also available at Bealls, The Daily Light, Chamber of Commerce, and the Waxahachie High School front office.
We hope you will consider joining us Saturday, Feb. 6, at Jazz Cafe to support a wonderful group of students who have worked and practiced very hard to make this a very special and magical evening for our community.
