Starting Saturday, March 26, and running through Saturday, April 2, Ellis County will host another week long cleanup event.
As before, the cleanup event will provide an opportunity for all county residents to dispose of trash, furniture, mattresses, yard debris and other similar items, as well as passenger tires (maximum 10/off rim) and electronics/appliance recycling – at no cost to participants.
No hazardous liquids/chemicals will be accepted.
This event will run simultaneously at two different landfill sites:
• ECD Landfill – 5703 N. Interstate 45, Ennis, 75119 – 972-875-5374
• CSC Landfill – 101 Republic Way, Avalon, 76623 – 972-627-3413
The event will run from 7 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday and from 7-11 a.m. Saturday.
“You will be required to obtain a voucher in order to participate in this event,” a spokesman said. “While this may seem inconvenient to some, the reason is simply that the vouchers are our only means to ensure that budgeted funds will be adequate to pay for this service to the community.”
Vouchers will be available starting March 1; quantities are limited.
The five locations around the county where vouchers can be obtained are:
•Pct. 1 – Commissioner Dennis Robinson
600 N. Interstate 45 Business
•Pct. 2 – Commissioner Bill Dodson
1400 Oak Grove Road
•Pct. 3 – Commissioner Heath Sims
933 College St.
•Pct. 4 – Commissioner Ron Brown
