RED OAK — Red Oak ISD will hold a mock disaster drill Friday, May 13, at Shields Elementary School.
The district’s Crisis Management/Response Plan will be implemented during this drill.
On the day of the drill, the CMRP will be activated. The CMRP has specific duties for faculty and staff, including the following teams:
Team 1 – Contact and Communications
Team 2 – Student Care and Control
Team 3 – Medical Services
Team 4 – Crowd Control
Team 5 – Counseling Services
Team 6 – Community Volunteers
Team 7 – Administration
Team 8 – Evacuation
Team 9 – Transportation
Team 10 – Support Services
Local emergency services including Glenn Heights, Red Oak, Ovilla, DeSoto, Lancaster, Midlothian and Waxahachie fire departments, will participate. During this drill, students and staff will be evacuated from the building. The “injured” will be treated at the scene and or transported by ambulance to local hospitals. The remainder of students and staff will be evacuated to another ROISD campus.
“This drill will not only help ROISD determine areas of the plan in need of improvement, but will also assist local emergency services by providing them a valuable training exercise,” a spokesman said. “Red Oak ISD would like to thank the community for their support and assistance in making our schools safe.”
