The Ennis ISD Archery Tournament that was scheduled for this past Saturday has been rescheduled for Saturday, Feb 12.
Participants who were already entered in the tournament are still entered for Saturday, Feb. 12.
“We still have openings and will add more flights after the 4 p.m. flight if we need to,” said Lanna McCabe, who serves as a sponsor for the team. If you have not entered the tournament and would like to do so, please e-mail me the name(s), grade(s), gender(s) and school at lanna.mccabe@Ennis.K12.TX.US.
“So far, we have 221 kids signed up to shoot for this tournament,” she said.
The schools signed up include Ennis, Lamar Middle School – Flower Mound, Kaufman, Canton, St. Mary’s – Longview, Poolville and Lakeview Middle School – The Colony.
This tournament is to prepare the kids for the Texas State Archery Tournament, which will be held Feb. 25 at the Convention Center in Waco.
“We would like to invite (participants) to attend,” McCabe said.
The tournament will be held at the Ennis Junior High School, located at 3101 Ensign Road. The first flight will be at 8:30 a.m. and the last flight will be at 4 p.m.
This is a National Archery in Schools Program tournament for kids in grades 4-12 who attend a school with NASP, which is a joint venture between state departments of education and wildlife. For more information, visit the website at www.archeryintheschools.org or e-mail McCabe said.
“We are looking for donations for our annual Ennis ISD archery raffle,” she said. “This raffle is to help fund our program and help pay part of the expenses of the trip to the national archery tournament in Louisville, Ky., in May, if we qualify at the state level.”
