The Waxahachie Indians once again played the vaunted DeSoto Eagles tough on homecoming night at Lumpkins Stadium, but came away empty-handed. The Indians, though, have five games left in District 11-6A to prove they are playoff-worthy for the fifth straight year.
THE WOODLANDS — The Waxahachie High School cross country teams finished sixth among 26 teams in the boys’ Elite Division team standings in their final tune-up for the postseason at the prestigious Nike South Invitational at Bear Branch Park on Saturday.
Guide Tony Pennebaker slowed his big catfish guide boat and studied the sonar closely. “This is the spot we fished yesterday and landed limits of ‘eater’ blue catfish in the slot and a couple of trophy catfish which we released that measured over 30 inches and weighed 35 to 40 pounds apiece.”
Last Friday evening, Sept. 27, the Midlothian Heritage Jaguars played host for the second District 6-5A (Division II) game of the year by having the Lions of Ennis stop by and partake of the festivities.

DUNCANVILLE — The Waxahachie Indians are still among the top teams in the District of Doom. But the two-time defending state champion Duncanville Panthers showed Friday night that the Indians still have some more climbing to do to reach the summit of 11-6A.
The Waxahachie Lady Indians appear well on their way to not only extending their two-decade-plus playoff appearance streak, but also making a run at the District 11-6A championship.
I remember well my introduction to what I refer to as "electric hunting buggies." The correct name would be EZ Go electric golf carts converted for use in the field other than the smooth riding surfaces of a golf course.
