FRISCO — Playing essentially a road game in the area round of the Class 5A Division I playoffs, the Red Oak Hawks trailed by 27 points early in the third quarter, but mounted a furious comeback before running out of time in a 34-28 loss at the Ford Center at The Star on Friday night. After the Rangers (11-1) had taken a 34-7 lead, the Hawks ended the game with 21 unanswered points and had the ball with under a minute left, but were unable to move and turned it over on downs in the final seconds.
