The seventh annual Woodhouse Invitational cross country meet was a success for the Waxahachie High School teams as the Indians placed fifth and the Lady Indians ninth in their respective Varsity Elite divisions on Saturday at Lakeview Camp.
ITALY — Winning football has always been the norm in Italy, especially over the last four seasons as the Gladiators returned to their accustomed place as a mainstay in the playoffs. New head coach Lee Wilkins has been tasked with keeping them there.

HASLET — After Thursday’s rough start to the Northwest ISD Tournament, the Waxahachie Lady Indians heated up at the right time, capturing six consecutive match victories to claim the Consolation Gold Championship on Saturday at Eaton High School. The Lady Indians (15-6) knocked off Coppell in straight sets, 25-15, 25-17, then defeated tourney co-host Justin Northwest, 29-27, 25-20, before battling to a 22-25, 25-15, 25-13 win over Denton Braswell in the consolation final to avenge an earlier loss in the Mansfield ISD tournament.
GRANBURY — The Waxahachie Lady Indians got back on the winning track in a non-district dual match on Tuesday, as they defeated Granbury in four sets and swept three sets over Joshua at Granbury High School.
The Life High School Mustangs are jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire when it comes to district membership. Competing in one of the toughest Class 4A Division I districts in the state, the Mustangs seemingly caught a realignment break in February when Midlothian Heritage moved to Class 5A and Brownwood was shifted into another district.
RED OAK — The Red Oak Hawks took a rare step back in 2021 while adjusting to a new coaching staff and a new system. But with so much talent in place, don’t expect the Hawks to stay down for long.
