But quarterbacks Chad Ragle and Drew Wendel displayed a new wrinkle to the Panthers’ offense on Thursday night that could make their season very interesting.

Luke welcomes rainfall from the woods

The weatherman forecast a decent chance of rain last week several days in advance and upon hearing the good news, I began making plans. I’ve got a corn feeder located close to a remote pond and my trail camera had evidenced the coming and going of several “eater” size hogs for the past month. By the look at the pictures it was clear they came as much for the water as the corn my feeder disturbed daily about sunset, they were usually wet from their “dips” in the pond. Wild animals have the innate ability to survive and without sweat glands to help keep them cool, wild hogs naturally gravitate to water when it’s hot and dry. My supply of spicy breakfast sausage was in short supply and the stage seemed set for a hog hunt that was long overdue!

Indian district tennis gets underway

After a few weeks of practice matches, the Indian tennis team will begin the ones that really count. That’s when the official district meets start this week. The WHS varsity squad will kick-start the fall team tennis schedule by facing off with Cedar Hill on Tuesday, August 23, at 4:00 p.m. at home, and then the same teams will turn around and compete 2 days later at the Longhorn courts in Cedar Hill, August 25. In fact, all district matches will begin at 4:00 p.m. It will be a busy week, and head coach Nicholas Tanner is hoping his Indians are ready to start the season with a couple of wins.
