Mustangs ride Berry’s coattails to first win

Red Oak drops district opener in OT; Midlothian, Palmer stay perfect FERRIS — Thanks to a school-record rushing performance by Kordell Berry, the Life High School Waxahachie Mustangs are in the win column for the first time in 2022. Berry ended the night with a whopping 336 yards and ran for five touchdowns as the Mustangs rallied in the second half to beat the Ferris Yellowjackets, 50-37, on Friday in non-district action.

Lady Indians sweep final district prep

The Waxahachie Lady Indians got stronger as the match progressed on Tuesday night, and came away with a three-set sweep of Keller Timber Creek, 25-22, 25-17, 25-13, at Mike Turner Gymnasium. The Lady Indians (22-10) had only three serve-receive errors in the entire match, which was their final tune-up for the District 11-6A schedule.

TENNIS INDIANS DEFEAT DUNCANVILLE

The Waxahachie High School tennis team remained undefeated in District 11-6A play with a win at Duncanville on Tuesday afternoon, 12-7. The Indians opened district play on Aug. 23 with a 17-2 win over Cedar Hill, and their Aug. 30 match against DeSoto was canceled. Their next match will be Tuesday afternoon at 4 p.m. against Mansfield Legacy at WHS.
