Four-way battle heats up for WHS baseball

With three games to go, the Waxahachie baseball Indians are locked into a playoff berth, but their fight to win an outright District 11-6A championship took a hit on Tuesday night with a 2-1 loss to league also-ran Lancaster to open a home-and-home series. The Indians (17-10, 9-2) are now locked in a four-way battle with Cedar Hill, Mesquite High and Duncanville for first place in district play, with a vital home-and-home against the Skeeters looming this week.

Tribe tracksters advance to regionals

HEWITT — The Waxahachie High School track and field teams qualified for this week’s regional track and field championships in 10 events on three gold medals and three silvers at the District 11-6A/12-6A area meet last Thursday at Midway High School’s Panther Stadium. The Lady Indians finished with a total haul of six gold medals and four silvers, with freshmen Reese Bartos and Jenna Moore finishing 1-2 in both the 1600 and 3200 events.

WHS sweeps 11-6A track titles

The Waxahachie Indians and Lady Indians more than held their own in the District of Doom last week, as they swept both team championships and advanced numerous athletes to the area championships at the District 11-6A track and field meet at Lumpkins Stadium. The Indian boys dominated the distance events as junior Cooper Grady, senior Graham Scott and junior Lucas Whitt held down the top three finishes in the 1600-meter run.
