It was only a matter of time, but the Waxahachie Indians finally made the crossover on Friday night into the realm of true state championship contenders. The Indians took plenty of lumps at Lumpkins Stadium and also on the road in their first two Class 6A seasons in 2018-2019 as they combined for only two victories.

ROUND ROCK — The Waxahachie High School cross country teams put forth several strong performances last Saturday at the 2025 Hoka McNeil Invitational at Old Settlers Park, the site of the University Interscholastic League cross country championships.

Shaking off the disappointment of dropping last Friday’s match against state-ranked Duncanville, the Waxahachie Lady Indians went back on the winning path Tuesday night as they swept Cedar Hill, 3-0, at Mike Turner Gymnasium.

With a big district-opening game against Class 6A No. 2 Duncanville coming up, the No. 17 Waxahachie Indians used last Friday’s non-district contest at Lumpkins Stadium against Forney as a dress rehearsal.

The Waxahachie Lady Indians are off to a very good start in their quest to defend their District 11-6A championship of a year ago, with their first big test awaiting Friday evening.

SCURRY — On Friday afternoon, Sept. 12, the Palmer Bulldogs hopped onboard their big Bulldog logo bus and traveled southeast through the Trinity River bottoms to take on the Scurry-Rosser Wildcats.

COPPELL — When the lightning returned to Buddy Echols Field last Friday night to cause a second weather delay, it looked as though the Class 6A No. 19 Waxahachie Indians might come away with a one-point victory.

The Waxahachie Lady Indians opened defense of their District 11-6A volleyball championship on Tuesday night at Mike Turner Gymnasium with a dominant performance, sweeping Mesquite High, 25-8, 25-12, 25-11.

SOUTHLAKE — The Waxahachie High School cross country teams posted strong finishes last Saturday at the Southlake Carroll Invitational at Bob Jones Park.
