NASA space telescope’s first cosmic view goes deep

Our view of the universe just expanded: The first image from NASA’s new space telescope unveiled Monday is brimming with galaxies and offers the deepest look of the cosmos ever captured. The first image from the $10 billion James Webb Space Telescope is the farthest humanity has ever seen in both time and distance, closer to the dawn of time and the edge of the universe.

A Day of Action

The United Way of West Ellis County (UWWEC) partnered with organizations across the county to make an impact and service the people of the community on the 2022 Day of Action. On and around June 21, thousands of people in hundreds of communities worldwide volunteer through the United Way to build stronger, more equitable communities.

K-9 team shines

The Waxahachie Police Department’s K-9 team of Officer Farmer and Mattis recently participated in the United States Police Canine Association (USPCA) competition and won first place in Narcotics Detection in Rooms and Vehicles. The team is headed to Nationals in September to become nationally certified and compete once again. USPCA is a nationally accredited organization to certify working dogs for departments to work on the street. The main goal is to certify police service dogs in narcotics and patrol work to work the street. During the certifications they grade and score each handler and the service dogs.
