AG Paxton urges Supreme Court to oppose policy releasing criminal illegals in US

AUSTIN –Attorney General Paxton filed a brief in the United States Supreme Court opposing the Department of Justice’s request to stay a district court order vacating the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) September 2021 Immigration Prioritization Memorandum. Federal law requires DHS to detain certain aliens who have committed crimes and aliens with final orders of removal, but DHS’s Memorandum ignores those requirements.

Elections chief under GOP scrutiny

Ellis County elections administrator Jana Onyon still has a job — for now, thanks to a huge pushback from supporters at a public meeting called to bring her service into question. In a lengthy session that stretched from Friday afternoon well into the evening at the Ellis County Historic Courthouse, the county Elections Commission heard never-before-aired “concerns” from county Republican Party chair Randy Bellomy and three others accusing Onyon of election fraud and other misdeeds.
