Life School receives ‘Accelerating Women’s Success and Mastery in Computer Science’ honor

Life High School Waxahachie (LHSW) was recognized as a member of the inaugural Accelerating Women’s Success and Mastery (AWSM) in Computer Science Honor Roll at the 2022 WeTeach_CS Summit. Life High School Waxahachie achieved this award because young women made up at least 50% of computer science (CS) course enrollment in the 2020-21 school year.

Conservative backlash pushes Texas social studies curriculum review to 2025

The State Board of Education narrowly voted Friday to delay updating the state’s social studies curriculum until 2025 after facing pressure from conservatives over proposed changes. Uvalde school year starts amid fear and unfinished security

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — A new and worrisome school year began Tuesday in Uvalde. There is new high fencing around the Texas community’s public school campuses that still isn’t finished, a heavy police patrol that many families don’t trust and no classes ever again at Robb Elementary School, three months after a gunman with an AR-15-style rifle killed 19 children and two teachers inside two adjoining fourth-grade classrooms.
