Scholarships for EMS education and training available from DSHS

The Texas Department of State Health Services is providing emergency medical service (EMS) scholarships to help interested Texans complete education and training to begin careers in the EMS field. The Texas Legislature provided $21 million to fund the scholarships for students using approved EMS education programs and licensed EMS providers, with special attention given to rural and other underserved areas of Texas.

Texas Baptist Home for Children needs local help

One of the oldest and most beneficial nonprofits in all of Ellis County is Texas Baptist Home for Children, better known as “TBHC Foster Care & Adoption.” Since 1910, this organization has been serving the children of Texas and helping counties in North Texas and the Permian Basin. Their main focus is to serve children and families through foster care (by recruiting, training, and resources and support for families); assist with adoptions (private infant adoption as well as kinship and matched adoptions); and provide teen pregnancy care services.

Ideas sought for freshwater fish habitat, shoreline-based angler access improvement projects

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) Inland Fisheries Division requests ideas from angling organizations, local governments, non-governmental organizations, river authorities and tribal organizations on freshwater fish habitat and shoreline-based angler access improvement projects to be completed in public waters statewide during fiscal years 2024-2025.
