The green and white of Waxahachie will be present when the 81st annual Sugar Bowl, college football’s second oldest bowl game, opens on Jan. 1 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The bowl game will be the first Waxahachie High School’s cheerleaders have attended. They will leave Tuesday and return Friday and are scheduled for a halftime performance and a riverboat cruise while in the Big Easy.
“They are working with Chris Judd and will be performing one of our never-before-seen routines,” said Kayla Miller, the Spirit of Waxahachie’s head cheerleading coach. “It’s going to be a fun trip, especially since it’s most of the girls’ first time in New Orleans. I was really looking forward to seeing Baylor play, but since they lost, they will be playing in Florida. I’ll root for Oklahoma State University, though. I’ll support the Big 12 (conference).”
