MAYPEARL — Members of Atmos Energy present a check in the amount of $500 to the Maypearl Police Department on Dec. 15.

Maypearl police officer William Pakula assisted Atmos repair crews when a gas leak recently occurred by turning his emergency lights on his vehicle to alert drivers of the leak. Pakula also used his spotlight to help crews locate the leak.

“Safety is of the highest importance to Atmos Energy. We shared that with you all and the service that you all provide in particularly in the evening to make sure that we are taking care of the community by repairing the gas leak,” said Corey Green, Atmos Energy Manager of Public Affairs. “I wanted to say thank you to the mayor, the chief and officer Pakula for allowing us the opportunity to partner with you guys. We hope to continue this partnership and look for more ways that we can partner in the community.”

Maypearl Police Chief Marlin Suell expressed his thanks for the donation to the department and said the department will continue to insure the safety of residents and visitors in Maypearl. The funds will be used to upgrade the department’s radio system.
