The City Federation of Women’s Clubs will hold its Newcomer’s Coffee at 10 a.m. on Nov. 5 at the Woman’s Building in Waxahachie.

Sylvia Smith will be the keynote speaker at the event. Smith is well-known for her commitment to historic preservation, and for her leadership in many Ellis County projects including the Roof-Slate Project for the Ellis County Courthouse and the Neglected Cemeteries Project.

Smith will speak about The Rural Woman — From the Kitchen to the Cotton Field.

The Newcomer’s Coffee is an annual event sponsored by the City Federation of Women’s Clubs. The purpose of the event is to encourage women to join the diverse clubs that are part of the City Federation, to form friendships with other club members and to welcome new clubs into the Federation.

All Club members and guests are cordially invited to the event.
