The Great Iris Give-Away returns to the Waxahachie Downtown Farmers Market this Saturday. Visit the Master Gardener booth to receive your free iris rhizomes. We will be giving them away along with planting instructions until the supply runs out. Visit with these A&M trained horticulture specialists about all your landscape needs.
We are excited to announce that the farmers market will be open for business on Ladies Night Out 5-8 p.m. Thursday. For those of you who canít make it to market on Saturday mornings here is your opportunity to see all the delicious local produce and products we have to offer. In addition to locally grown fruits, vegetables and plants; we have local honey, cheeses, eggs, flour and cornmeal.
A new item at the market is coffee beans with sampling. Our crafters are proud makers of the items they sell. They offer jewelry, hats, essential oils, kidís items and funky crafts. Look for lots of baked goods including breads, sweet breads, cakes, cookies, muffins, fried pies and sugar free pastries.
Tommyís food truck and the Tamale Ladies will be here. We always offer free samples of salsas, vinegars, cheeses, jellies, pickles and fresh fruits.
On Thursday night only we are offering samples of a very special Farmers Market Sangria made with market fruits and white wine. There will also be a nonalcoholic sampling. So be sure to add the Waxahachie Downtown Farmers Market to your list of places to shop this Thursday night and every Saturday morning.
With the arrival of September look for more perennials and cool weather plants for sale. weGarden will have blackberry plants ready for fall planting. Look for more fall fruits, vegetables and produce to be arriving at the market. Jimís Produce was selling pumpkin whoopee cakes last week, always a good sign autumn is coming.
