Representatives from the Ellis County SPCA and Waxahachie Care visited Ms. DeNicola’s Community Service classroom today to speak to students about opportunities for service in the area.

Waxahachie Care, a non-profit organization, provides many services to the people of Waxahachie and surrounding areas. Some services include: food pantry, social services/referrals for counseling, disaster relief, Senior Citizen outreach and many more. Waxahachie Cares holds regular volunteer hours for people wanting to volunteer or that need community service hours. These hours are held 5 - 7 p.m.the second and fourth Tuesday of each month.

The Ellis County SPCA, also a non-profit organization, takes in stray dogs and cats from the county. Services provided include vaccinations, spaying/neutering, and a small amount of training for animals taken in. The Ellis County SPCA is funded by donations and fees from adopting. There are currently 12 animals ready for adoption. Check out their website and/or Facebook page for available animals.
