The Waxahachie Youth Softball League, which was planned to kick-off Saturday at Optimist Field, is still in need of players and coaches to fill the rosters for its fall season.

League represenetatives is looking for a parent or an adult volunteer to coach the a 8U softball team and  Chim Curry, the Optimist Field director and the WYBA classic director, said the search could delay the start of the season. 

They are also looking for six female players between the ages of 9 and 11 years old to play in the 10U and 12U teams. 

The Waxahachie Youth Baseball League fall season also registration opened this week.

Curry said the league is looking to field at least five teams to each division in the league. 

The WYBL will feature T-Ball (3 to 4 years old), Modified T-Ball (6 years old), Coach-Pitch (7 and 8 years old) and 10U, 12U and 14U divisions this season. 

The WYBL games will begin Sept. 14, with weekly games played on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and will run for six weeks. 

Online and in-person registration will remain open until Monday. Those who wish to register in person can sign up from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Monday at the Optimist Field concession stand.
