RED OAK — On Monday, Red Oak High School Principal Dr. Doug Funk was honored at a regularly scheduled board meeting for results released by the Texas Education Agency for the 2015 End of Course Exams.

Red Oak High School, along with every campus in the district, met and exceeded state testing standards last spring. In addition, campuses may earn distinction designations for superior performance in a number of areas. Red Oak High School earned a record four distinction designations in Mathematics, Science, Top 25 percent Student Progress and Top 25 percent Closing Performance Gaps.

“Results from the 2015 STAAR and EOC show that our campuses have moved beyond the goal of meeting state standards. While we value accountability in our classrooms, it is more important for us to see that our students are mastering each subject to the best of his or her ability,” said Superintendent Dr. Scott Niven. “The fact that Red Oak High School earned four distinction designations shows that students are far exceeding expectations. Additionally, every campus exceeded the standards in every subject and in every grade. I’m proud of our students and staff.”
