The Waxahachie Lady Indians softball team fell to the visiting Mansfield Legacy Lady Broncos on Tuesday night 4-1.

The girls did play well, but just couldn’t swing the bat against the tough Lady Bronco pitcher, head coach Joe Wakeland said.

“We played good defense and looked pretty good running the bases, but we just couldn’t get any hits,” Wakeland said. “That girl was a pretty good pitcher, we just didn’t hit. But we played well, sometime you just get beat, even though we didn’t give them much.”

Next up for the Lady Indians is against their district rival Fighting Lady Lions of Ennis. When the two team first played each other on March 24, Ennis beat Waxahachie by one run, 5-4. Fortunately the Lady Indians will have one of their star pitchers on the mound for this game, he said.

We’ll have Cassidie Campbell on the mound for us this week,” he said. “Their pitch is good too, so it should make for a good game.
