The Lady Panther softball team clinched a playoff spot after run-ruling the Cedar Hill Lady Longhorns in six innings on Friday. The Lady Panthers scored six runs in the sixth on an RBI

double by Robyn Gajdica, a two-run double by Emily Noah, an RBI double by Aaliyah Johnson and a

two-run double by Carley Haizlip. Jordan Freas had three extra-base hits for the Lady Panthers. Freas tripled in the second and third innings, doubled in the fourth inning, and singled in the sixth inning.

The win put the Panthers in third place in district.

Then on Saturday the Lady Panthers topped Mesquite Poteet 10-9 in a non-district, postseason practice game. After three strong defensive stands the Lady Panthers came back on Poteet and tied the game 9-9, and took the Lady Pirate into extra innings. Another strong defensive inning allowed the Lady Panthers to seal the one-point, 10-9 victory off of a sacrifice fly by Georgia Capell that scored Carley Haizlip.

The Lady Panthers varsity team is off on Tuesday, but returns to action at 7 p.m. on Friday when the team travels to Duncanville for another district game with the Lady Panthers. Midlothian's next home game is against Brock at 4 p.m. on Saturday.

On Friday the Midlothian Lady Panthers junior varsity white team defeated Cedar Hill 10-1. A bases clearing triple by Reagan Chojnacki put the game away early, allowing the girls to pick up the win.

On Saturday, the JV Lady Panthers blue team was lead by the arm of Taylor Horton, who struck out eight batters, helping Midlothian come out on top of Mesquite Poteet, 8-5.

Next team the JV blue faces is Duncanville at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The district game versus the Lady Panthers of Duncanville will be at Duncanville.
