To the Editor,

I would like to write on the behalf of Duke Burge, Midlothian Independent School District Trustee, Place 3. I have known Mr. Burge for the past eight years to be a good-hearted, intelligent, trustworthy and ethical gentleman. I believe that his drive to make Midlothian ISD and the city of Midlothian better is exactly what we need in these tight economic times. His knowledge of school finance is second to none in this district and with his help we will get through the fiscal crunch that many local school districts are suffering through.

As a Midlothian resident, I support the fact that Mr. Burge does not support increasing taxes or expeditiously dipping into the General Fund Balance as some of the other candidates feel is appropriate. I also support that he wants to conservatively manage the growth of the district while maintaining high standards of professionalism for our students, school employees, and facilities.

In closing, I recommend Mr. Burge without reservation as I feel he is the best man for the job. In my opinion, he has served with distinction and will continue to do so in the near future.
