Ellis County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a possible recovered stolen vehicle at about 12:50 p.m. Monday, with a caller reporting he had spotted his recently stolen pickup and trailer parked at a residence in the 5000 block of Farm-to-Market 875.

As deputies were en route, the caller said two males got into the stolen pickup and went west on 875, while a second pickup hooked up to the trailer and also left, turning onto Skinner.

Numerous units responded to the call, with a deputy constable spotting the stolen pickup at a location east of Farm-to-Market 663. The deputy constable turned around on the stolen pickup, which fled at speeds of about 100 mph while passing vehicles. The deputy constable located the abandoned stolen pickup at Hoblitzelle Camp on Singleton south of Baucum Road. A witness reported the two male occupants had fled on foot east into the camp.

A perimeter was established, with the ECSO canine and air units deployed. A DPS helicopter also arrived to assist; however, the two males were not located.

The stolen vehicle was impounded. The investigation is ongoing.
