ELLIS COUNTY – In an ongoing effort to enhance state roadways and improve safety, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) approved two contracts to upgrade the safety features of two roads in Ellis County. Both construction projects will add three-foot wide shoulders to area Farm-to-Market Roads.
The first project will add paved shoulders to FM 664 from US 287 to south of Red Oak Creek in Ovilla. The construction contract was awarded to Ed Bell Construction Company for $11.1 million.
The second contract will add paved shoulders to FM 55 south of Waxahachie between Nash Howard Road and US 77. The $4.9 million contract was awarded to Knife River Corporation-South.
Construction dates will be established in upcoming meetings between TxDOT and the contractor.
