Jerry L. Peebles, 74, passed away in Waxahachie on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014. Jerry was born in Corsicana on March 30, 1940 to Ivan Lewis and Bobbie Lynn (Stockard) Peebles. He grew up in Ennis and graduated from Ennis High School in 1958. On May 19, 1979, he married Lori Hayes. He served his country proudly in the United States Coast Guard and was a proud member of the American Legion. He worked for over 47 years for Southern-Pacific Railroad and ultimately retired from the Union Pacific railroad. He loved working for the railroad and spending time with his family. He is survived by his wife, Lori Peebles; two sons: Mark Peebles and wife, Christy, and Drew Peebles; two daughters: Shana Wright and husband, Eddie, and Sandie McKinney and husband, Charlie; six grandchildren: Alisha, Clayton, Meghan, Meredith, Marlee, and Cadence; one great-grandchild: Bobbie Grace; and one brother: Ronnie Peebles and wife, Johnnie. He is preceded in death by his parents, as well as one daughter, Nicole Ann Peebles, and one grandchild, Aaron Peebles.
A visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 2015 in the J.E. Keever Mortuary of Ennis. A celebration of his life will take place at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 5, 2015 in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis. Interment will follow in the Myrtle Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to the American Heart Association and to Dawson Elementary School Library in Dawson, Texas.
