GRANDVIEW– Grandview police arrested a woman on a murder charge after a fatal altercation Sunday with her boyfriend.

Police responded to a disturbance call at an apartment complex in the 500 block of Criner Ave. at 9:16 p.m. said Sgt. Curran Massey, with the Grandview Police Department.

The caller, 35-year-old Grandview resident Darlene Mullins, stated she was in an altercation with her boyfriend and she pulled out a knife and he was bleeding, a release from the Grandview Police Department stated.

The responding officers made contact with Mullins before entering the apartment. The victim was found unresponsive, with blood on his shirt, in a grassy area between two apartment buildings. Several attempts were made by the Daily Light to clarify this discrepancy with the Grandview Police Department but calls were not returned as of press time.

The victim, who's name has not been released pending notification of next of kin, was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics with CareFlite, according to the release.

Mullins was interviewed by police investigators, arrested and booked into the Johnson County Jail on the charge of murder, the release stated.

Grandview Police Sgt. Curran Massey said other units responded to the scene as well as investigators from the Grandview Police Department and the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident is under investigation by the Grandview Police Department.
