Ira L. Love, 94, of Waxahachie passed away Sunday, Nov. 23, 2014 at his home. He was born June 10, 1920 in Lancaster to William N. and Mollie (Mitchell) Love. Ira spent four and a half years in the South Pacific in New Guinea in the invasion of the Philippines where he received two Bronze Stars, a Purple Heart, Philippines Liberation Ribbon and numerous other military citations. He married Lillie on Aug. 29, 1945 and they were members of the First Baptist Church in Waxahachie for more than 50 years. Ira retired from Power Systems as a foreman.
Survivors include his son, Gary Love and wife Linda of Waxahachie; two grandchildren, Wesley L. Hanna, Jr., and wife Lisa of Euless and Joseph L. Hanna of Arlington; two great-grandchildren, Wesley L. Hanna III and Katie Pace and husband Brandon; one great-greatgrandson Jaxon Pace; and three nieces, Molly Pierson and husband Earl, Paulette Shelton and Susan Love. Ira was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 58 years, Lillie Love; three brothers, Terrell Love, Tony Love and W.N. Love Jr.; and one nephew, Jerry Love.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2014 at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home.
A graveside service and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014 at the Red Oak Cemetery with Gregg Burdette officiating.
