Born Feb. 6, 1921, passed away in Waxahachie on Oct. 30, 2014.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents E.E. and Bertie Kemp, Husband Jess Edwin Graves, Second husband Daniel Humphries and Sister Juanita (Happy) Clopton.

She is survived by Son Charley Graves and his wife Shirley of Rockett, Grandson Jeff and his wife Gill and their son Tristan, granddaughter Kimberly and her children Shannon and Samuel, two step-daughters and their families,  four sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

Virginia was born Feb. 6 1921 in McGregor, Texas. Graduated from Ferris High School in 1939. She married her high school sweetheart Jess Edwin Graves on July 27, 1939.They were married for 48 years until his death in 1987. She married Daniel Humphries Sept. 2, 1989 and they were married for 13 years until his death in 2003.

Her years were spent on the farm alongside her husband Jess, but she also held down a full-time job. She worked several years at Maryland Belt Co. in Ferris and spent over 10 years working at Tyler Refrigeration in Waxahachie. Evan with this schedule she still found time to make handmade shirts for her son Charley.

Virginia and Dan were avid gardeners. She loved any kind of sewing or knitting, and many of her friends and family have handmade quilts of hers. Her free time in her final years was spent knitting newborn baby caps for local hospitals. In the last five years she has knitted over 500 and donated them.

A service was held Monday, Nov. 3, 2014 at The Rockett  Christian  Church in Rockett, Texas with Rev. Wendell Ferguson officiating. Interment followed at Grave Cemetery on Bells Chapel Rd. in Rockett.

A visitation was held from noon to 2 p.m. at the Fellowship Hall.

Pallbearers will be Robert Choate, Jerry Choate, Kemp Clopton, Wade Payne, Lloyd Norwood, Tom Sawyer and Ushers will be Steve Wood, Blake Watson and Daniel Golden.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Graves Cemetery, Maintenance Fund, c/o Charley Graves 414 Chad Ln., Red Oak, Tx 75154.

Arrangements are under the direction of Wayne Boze Funeral Home in Waxahachie.
