The driver of a Ford Focus was transported to Baylor Medical Center at Waxahachie after a two-vehicle accident Thursday. Emergency responders were dispatched to the 1500 block of Drexal Dr. at 10:45 a.m.

“Basically what we can tell at this point is the maroon truck was parked here in front of the residence at 1540,” Waxahachie Police Sgt. Rodney Guthrie said. “The gentlemen in the Ford passenger car, we believe, had some type of medical issue, veered over and struck the rear (of the truck) and knocked it up into the yard.”

Guthrie said the F-150 pickup truck was unoccupied and parked in the street at the time of the accident. The Focus was traveling towards Lexington Drive when the accident happened.

Waxahachie Fire Department Battalion Chief Randy Muirhead said the call came in with one person trapped inside a vehicle and a vehicle on fire. When crews arrived on scene they found no fire and the driver of the Focus was out of the vehicle.

Providing assistance at the scene to the fire and police departments were members of East Texas EMS, who transported the driver to a nearby hospital.
