James Erik Pryor, 19, died in an accident in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Ellis County.

Ellis County troopers responded to the accident at 6:20 a.m. at Ensign Road and Liska Road, east of Ennis.

When troopers arrived at the scene, they found a black Mitsubishi Eclipse that had struck a tree. Inside, Pryor was found deceased. He was pronounced dead by Justice of the Peace Bill Woody, and his body was taken to J.E. Keever Mortuary in Ennis.

Troopers notified family members from the scene of the accident.

The accident occurred because the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed, east on Ensign Road. The driver lost control on a left-hand curve, which sent the vehicle across a grassy area, before striking the tree head on. The accident is still being investigated by by Ellis County Trooper Adam Constancio.
