Lelia Cathey, 85, passed away early Thursday morning, Jan. 23, 2014 in Arlington. She was born Nov. 1, 1928 in Coleman to Cleo and Ella (Thate) Edington. She graduated from Burkett High School in 1946. Lelia married her high school sweetheart, David Ross Cathey on July 13, 1946. They moved to the Dallas area in 1957.
Surviving a car accident in 1958, she still lovingly raised two children and turned a house into a home for her grandchildren and family. Lelia faithfully served her Lord until she left the trials and tribulations of the earth behind.
Survivors include two children, Patricia Dickeson of Hillsboro and David Keith Cathey and his wife Judy of Red Oak; three grandchildren, Daniel Stone, Sr. and wife Janet, Tammy Stone and Heather Gordon; great-grandchildren, Amber Abel, Stormy Abel, Anna Abel, Heather Abel, Daniel Stone, Jr. and Brittany Stone and Kaylie Gordon; and one great-great-grandchild, Hunter.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, David Ross Cathey on Oct. 29, 2008.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 in the chapel of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 11 a.m.
Graveside service and interment will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2014 at the Burkett Cemetery in Burkett, Texas.
