Janice Marie Cunningham, 76, of Waxahachie passed away at home, surrounded by family and love, on Jan. 13, 2014. Janice was born Nov. 2, 1937 to Ray and Bessie Jennings in St. Joseph, Mo. She graduated from Paris High School in 1955, where she met the love of her life, James Cunningham. They married Sept. 2, 1956, and had three fine daughters.
Jan was known for her strong will, artistic talents and ability to teach proper table manners to all her descendants. She enjoyed traveling in the years following her retirement from the management of J.C. Penneyís and was an active member and volunteer at St. Paulís Episcopal Church before her health began to fail.
Janice was preceded in death by her youngest daughter, Barbara Jill; her best friend and sister-in-law, Toni Cunningham; her brother Ray Jennings, Jr.; and her parents Ray and Bessie Jennings.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, James Cunningham; her daughters, Jennifer Cunningham and Janice-Mary and husband Eric Volbrecht, all of Waxahachie; grandchildren, Andy Harris of Paris, Heather and husband Jacques Rougeux of Borger, Texas, Tatiana Volbrecht of Waxahachie; great-grandsons Matthew Rougeux and James and Zachary Brunson, all of Borger; sister, Barbara Robinson of Dallas; brother-in-law, Sam Cunningham of Paris; nieces, Beverly Costello of Dallas and Samantha Ribble of Paris; granddaughter of the heart Sheena Leeson; and numerous nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
Services will be held at 4 p.m. Jan. 18, 2014 at St. Paulís Episcopal Church in Waxahachie. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paulís Episcopal Church or a charity of your choice.
