The Rotary Club of Waxahachie was pleased to donate $1,000 to the Education Foundation of the Waxahachie Independent School District. The Foundation provides funding for a broad range of projects and opportunities for students, teachers and schools. These are in addition to the school districtís budget and result from fund raising and grants such as the Rotary grant.

The Foundation provides grants to teachers for innovative work in their classrooms. These have included pilot studies and cutting edge technology projects.

It also provides scholarships for dual credit classes. In these classes students take college-level courses while they are in high school and accumulate college-level credits by graduation.

In addition to these grants directly to teachers and students, the Foundation sometimes provides specific assistance to a school in case of a special need outside the budget.

To contact the Education Foundation for information or to make a donation call the Waxahachie Independent School District office at 972-923-4631. The Foundation has two fundraisers which is their annual golf tournament around, described as the best in town. Watch for it in April and be sure to sign up. Also, in October they host the Legacy Run in conjunction with WISD Homecoming activities. This is a 5K, 10K and family fun run, you will see details in the fall. You can also visit to find out more about these activities.
