One person was taken to the hospital after a two-vehicle accident occurred about 10 a.m. on Interstate Highway 35 near Sterrett Road on Friday.
A passenger in a white Mercedes sustained a minor head injury after an 18-wheeler and the vehicle collided, said Sgt. Rob Best of the Waxahachie Police Department.
“We have two different versions of the story,” he said. “Those in the passenger car stated that they were traveling northbound on the inside line next to the tractor-trailer. The tractor-trailer went to change lanes and didn’t see them there.”
The other is that before the vehicles made contact, the Mercedes veered and struck a guardrail once. Then the vehicle came back out, overcorrected and hit the guardrail a second time and then came to rest on the highway’s shoulder, he said.
The driver of the UPS truck involved stopped a little down the road, he said.
“It just couldn’t stop right away, and once he was able to stop we were able to get all the information,” he said.
