The Midlothian Lady Panther basketball teams had no problem with Dallas Hillcrest last week.

The varsity team continued its great season by dominating from the opening tip to get a 67-34 win.

Midlothian's shut down defense was on full display in the first quarter as it allowed just two points while the Lady Panthers poured in a dozen.

The trend continued in the middle two quarters as Midlothian saw its lead expand to 57-16 going into the fourth.

Hillcrest scored more points in the fourth quarter than it did in the first three quarters combined as it racked up 18. That wasn't enough to mount even a mild comeback as Midlothian coasted to the big victory.

Jenna Price had her best game of season as she scored 20 points in the win. Meghan Turner scored nine and Karrington Slaydon and Morgan Huffstutler added seven. Slaydon and Calvonah Jenkins dominated on defense for the team.

Midlothian (7-4) will get a nice long break before playing again. It's next game will be in the Fort Worth Cowtown Tournament from Dec. 5-7.

Like the varsity team, the JV squad didn't have much trouble with Hillcrest in a 56-15 win thanks to a dominating first quarter.

The JV Lady Panthers led 22-0 after the first frame. Hillcrest got on the board with five points in the second quarter, but Midlothian still led 34-5 at halftime. The JV squad just coasted from that point on to get the big win.

All 10 members of the team scored and seven got at least six points. Hailey Petton led the way with 14 and Sydney Eitel had 12. Jaida Klor, Katey Hahn, Destiny Rogers and Ciera Cunning each scored six.

That win put Midlothian at (5-1) on the early year and the JV team will be in action again when district play begins at home Dec. 10 against Mansfield Timberview.
