Nov. 21, 2013

Lowell Weldon Bailey “Bud” Brannon, Jr., 78, the second of four children was born Nov. 17, 1935 in Milford to Lowell W. B. and Mabel Lee Jones Brannon, Sr. He passed away on Nov. 21, 2013 in Duncanville.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents, Lowell and Mable and sister, Laura Kitchens. He is survived by his wife and soul mate of 38 years, Carolyn Brannon; children, Michael Elliott and wife, René of Midlothian and LaDonna Lewis of Foreston; sister, Joanna Wyndham of Dallas; brother, Robert Brannon and wife, Judy of Waxahachie; sister-in-law, Linda Whitney; nephews, Matthew Brannon and wife, Stella, Joe Wyndham Jr. and wife, Andi, Jody Wyndham and Scottie Robbins; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Bud was a loving husband and father and loved by many. He served his country in the '50s in South Korea, working as a diplomatic courier delivering documents to the DMZ. He also served in the National Guard. He had an enormous curiosity about life and was always helping his fellow man. Dependable and humble, he treated everyone with respect.

His brother, Bob, might have said it best: “A better brother I couldn’t have asked for. Always there when I needed him, a companion in whatever I wanted to do. We spent many good times together camping, fishing and hunting. He was a brother and a friend to anyone who knew him. That’s how we were raised and that’s how he lived his life, and yes, I do believe he is in a much better place now and that God is taking care of him.”

Bud was a member of Grace Baptist Church of Midlothian and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013 at Italy Cemetery in Italy.
