For the nineteenth year, Hulen Mall hosts The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree, encouraging shoppers to adopt an angel from the tree and purchase gifts to make a merrier holiday for someone less fortunate. The Angel Tree will be at the shopping center beginning Friday, November 8 through Monday, December 9.
“During the holidays in 2012, shoppers at Hulen Mall made a difference in the lives of almost 2,000 individuals. To be exact, there were 1,994 angels adopted from our Angel Tree. This support is a true indication of the generosity of this community,” said Debi Martinez, marketing manager for the shopping center. “Adopting an angel seems like such a simple action, yet when you consider the impact that this little gesture of generosity can make in a child’s or a senior’s holidays, it is heartwarming.”
The Angel Tree is decorated with numbered tags, each with information about children ages newborn to 13 who are in need of a gift for Christmas, including an Angel’s name, age, gender, gift requests and a code number. Each person who selects a tag purchases a gift or gifts for his/her angel and returns the gift or gifts, unwrapped, to The Salvation Army Angel Tree at Hulen Mall. The Salvation Army will use the unique code numbers to distribute the donated gifts to the families in time for Christmas.
The Angel Tree is located on the lower level in the Dillard’s wing. Volunteers staff the tree daily during mall hours.
