Gerald Wickliffe Sr.

Dec. 1, 1942 –

Sept. 14, 2013

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gerald Wickliffe Sr., 70, of Midlothian on Sept. 14, 2013. He made his home in the Ferris and Bristol area for the majority of his life.

Gerald was born Dec. 1, 1942 in Dallas, Texas to the late E.G. Wickliffe and Geraldyne Wilson Wickliffe. He married Linda Ruth Pringle on April 1, 1961.  Linda and Gerald shared 52 loving years of marriage. The marriage was blessed with four children, Eddie Gerald, Sheryl Jeanette, Debra Lynn and Lori D’Ann.

He was preceded in death by his daughters, Sheryl and Debra and by his sisters, Jo Ellen and Sandra.

Surviving relatives are his wife, Linda; his children, Gerald Jr. and his wife, Jamie, and Lori Ehly and her husband, Daron; as well as his brother, Greg Wickliffe.

Gepa will be greatly missed by his four grandchildren: Keri, Eric, Clark and Kati; his three great-grands: Destiny, Ethan and Alexis; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Gerald was a proud Ferris Yellowjacket alumni. He contributed and served his community as a school board member for two terms and served as president of the booster club for Ferris ISD. One of the enjoyable times in his life was building and running the Hitch-N-Post. He mentored several young people in the community by opening his home and heart, including coaching the Tigers youth baseball team. He was a great listening ear and a wise advisor.

Gerald spent his adult life in the printing industry, retiring at the first of the year as Vice President of Manufacturing for Lincoln Press in Dallas. He found great joy working with his son, daughter and grandson in his later years. He enjoyed his retirement ranching, working on his farm in Corsicana and continuing his never ending job of teaching his kids and grandkids dominos.

Visitation for family and friends was held Monday, September 16, 2013 in the chapel of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, in the chapel of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Bristol cemetery.
