Seldom Seen Quilting at EC Quilt Show

Stop by the Seldom Seen Quilting booth at the Ellis County Quilt Show, Friday and Saturday, July 19-20, at the Midlothian Conference Center. There will be a longarm all set up and ready for you to try out! Also, Diana Buckley will be signing copies of her novel, “Betsey Anne,” and you can sign up for the drawing of ONE FREE DAY on the longarm in the studio, with ONE-ON-ONE lessons all day – it’s a $95 value.

Puppet Show at Sims Library

Nicholas P. Sims Library will host Twinkle Star Puppet Theatre from 10-11 a.m. Friday, July 19. The Friends of Sims Library is sponsoring this program as part of the Texas Summer Reading Club events. Possumbilities! An original children’s musical set in the fairy tale fantasy world of Winktasia, where a talking possum must learn to work with his instincts in order to save the day. It’s a story of learning to be happy with who you are and finding a compromise when none seem Possumble. This is the Ellis County Children’s Theatre summer musical production. Show times are 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, July 20, in the WHS Fine Arts Center. Tickets are $5.

Ellis County Aggie Moms to host Howdy Party, July 20

The Ellis County Moms Club will host a Howdy Party for current and prospective members at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 20, First United Methodist Church in Waxahachie. All members, Aggie students and families, along with future Aggie students, parents and families are invited to attend. The meet and greet event will be a great networking opportunity to learn about the organization. Ellis County Moms Club meets the third Tuesday of each month, September through May, at First United Methodist Church, 505 W. Marvin St. in Waxahachie.

Midlothian Downtown Farmers Market

The Midlothian Downtown Business Association will host its downtown farmers market from 8 a.m.-noon every Saturday until October at Heritage Park by the Larkin Newton Log Cabin.

Crafting: Paint your own flowerpots at Sims Library

‘Nite Hike & Owl Prowl’ at Mockingbird Nature Park

The Indian Trail Chapter, Texas Master Naturalists will lead a fun and family-friendly hike into the nighttime world of Mockingbird Nature Park at 8:30 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013. A trail, which is familiar by day, becomes a whole new experience at night. Come and learn about the sights, smells and sounds of nature at night.

 Closed-toe shoes, long pants, and bug spray are recommended. Adults bring a flashlight and everyone should bring a bottle of water. Plan to be outdoors at least two hours.

Designed for Worship will perform at Hastings Entertainment, 791 N. Highway 77 in Waxahachie, from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, July 20.

Impound auto auction at Red Oak

Red Oak Police auto impounds will hold its quarterly auto auction at 9 a.m. Saturday, July 20 at the Tow Pro lot, 306 Mooreview in Red Oak. There will be 25 vehicles up for auction this quarter.
