FORT WORTH – At the mid-point of its 10th anniversary celebration, Fuzzy’s Taco Shop is ahead of pace in its ambitious goal to provide 750,000 meals for hungry kids.

Thanks to the generosity of its guests and a few special twists cooked up by the wildly popular chain, the restaurant is poised to put a major dent in childhood hunger.

On Monday, July 1, Fuzzy’s launched a month-long campaign in support of Share Our Strength’s Dine Out For No Kid Hungry campaign. Customers at more than 65 participating restaurants both locally and nationwide are being invited to make a $1 donation to feed hungry kids. In return, Fuzzy’s provides a bounce-back voucher good for one free taco on the customer’s next visit.

In addition, the fun-loving restaurant is encouraging its social media followers to create short, Fuzzy’s-themed Vine videos. For every video uploaded to the Vine app or to Twitter with the hashtag #fuzzys4nokidhungry, Fuzzy’s is donating 10 meals to the No Kid Hungry campaign.

The overall goal of the 10th Anniversary campaign is to contribute $75,000 to the charity. Through the first half of July, nearly $50,000 has been raised from guests and the social media campaign. Seven Fuzzy’s locations have already collected more than $1,000 each from customer donations.

Thanks to the strength of the No Kid Hungry network, every $1 donated equals 10 meals for hungry kids. This is the first year Fuzzy’s has supported the campaign, which is organized by Share Our Strength, a national not-for-profit organization that works to ensure that no child in America grows up hungry.

“We love to have fun at Fuzzy’s, but we also wanted to mark our anniversary by giving back to the communities that have embraced us so warmly over the last decade,” said Chuck Bush, chief executive of Fuzzy’s Taco Shop. “We strongly support the exceptional work being done by Share Our Strength because we believe it’s a travesty that any child in America would not know where his or her next meal is coming from. With our customers’ help, we’re on pace to provide more than 750,000 meals for these kids. That’s pretty exciting.”

Known for its generous helpings of uniquely flavorful Baja-style Mexican fare, Fuzzy’s Taco Shop has become an overnight sensation in the restaurant industry.

Fuzzy’s menu features its original take on the Baja taco, which is often referred to as “addictive” thanks to the garlic sauce and feta cheese that makes it so distinctive. The restaurant also serves a wide array of handmade enchiladas, jumbo salads, nachos, burritos and its signature chips and queso.

Fuzzy’s is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and most locations offer a generous selection of beer, wine, margaritas and other specialty drinks.

With a knowing nod to Fuzzy’s Fanatics everywhere, the restaurant also rolled out a silver 10th Anniversary Souvenir Cup in July, paying homage to the iconic cups that have become synonymous with the brand. As with its regular souvenir cups, the limited-edition silver cups may be brought back to any Fuzzy’s for a $0.99 refill; but the collector’s edition will only be available in-store this month.

“Ten years ago, when my father Alan and I purchased Fuzzy’s, we made a promise: To focus our full attention on promptly and efficiently providing ourguests with generous helpings of uniquely flavorful foods at a fair price,” said Bush. “We’ve done our best to keep that promise every day since, so we’re thanking our customers for sticking with us for 10 great years, and hopefully for many many more to come!”
